Mr Shyamalan (Shyam) is a highly experienced Consultant Hand, Wrist and Elbow Surgeon maintaining an extensive NHS and private practice across Solihull, Birmingham, Warwick, and Sutton Coldfield.​

As a Consultant Surgeon specialising in complex upper limb reconstruction, Mr Shyamalan provides expert clinical opinions on the standard of care and surgical outcomes. Expert Witness Agreement

Engagement fees

Hourly rate

£450 per hour for report preparation, forensic review of late supplied notes or X-rays, and answering subsequent questions.

Report logistics

Instructing solicitors must pay the total invoice prior to the report being signed. An unsigned report will be sent along side the invoice. Joint instructions are invoiced to the instructing solicitor unless advised otherwise.

Factual accuracy

No charges are levied for the correction of factual inaccuracies within a report.

Late payment

An administration charge of 15% applies if late payment is negotiated in advance.

Non attendance

A cancellation fee of £250 applies for non attendance or cancellations within 48 hours. A fee of £500 is charged for a second non attendance.

Court Attendance Fees

Daily rate

£4,500 per day (based on 8 hours in court and 2 hours of briefing).

Preparation

Case conferences and court preparation are billed at £450 per hour.

Travel & expenses

Travel (up to 4 hours a day), 4 star accommodation, first class rail/air travel, and mileage at 45p per mile are rechargeable.

Court cancellation

2–4 weeks notice: 25% of total fee.

  • 1–2 weeks notice: 50% of total fee.

  • Less than 1 week: 100% of total fee.

Initial Instruction

To ensure a swift and comprehensive medical review, we recommend the following be included in your initial instruction pack:

  • Letter of instruction: Clearly stating if the instruction is single or joint.

  • Medical records: Chronological GP and hospital records.

  • Imaging: High resolution X-rays, MRI's or CT scans.

Turnaround times

 

  • Urgent report: 2–4 weeks (An extra cost will be applied and only if records are complete)

  • Standard report: around 6–12 weeks

  • Complex litigation report: 3–6 months
